The success of IPS, since 1976, revolves around a central and fundamental field of expertise, a field with enormous potential: microencapsulation.
To microencapsulate means the protection of infinitesimal portions of a substance, in either a liquid or solid state, by enveloping each minute portion in an exceedingly fine membrane. This results in an aqueous suspension of millions of microcapsules, with each microcapsule preserving the intact chemical and physical properties of the encapsulated substance.
The membrane that forms the microcapsule can be manufactured in a variety of characteristics, depending on the intended use. Microcapsules can be made resistant to external agents or sensitive to pressure, friction, humidity or heat. The applications of microencapsulation are so numerous and vast that I.P.S., over time, has been organized in different divisions.
